What are your experiences with this species? And if you also grow grandiflorus, could you maybe draw some comparisons? One more thing, if you don't mind, where did you manage to find it?

I've never had much luck with these either. It gets too wet in the winter. Although seeing this I might try again just plopping them onto a rock or something They used to be called houseleeks, and people grew them on their roofs.
