Did you get them at a local greenhouse or garden center?

Re: Epithelantha micromeris -- in flower?
Thanks Steve, I'm glad you like the video! :) I think the 5 year mark sounds about right. I do have a larger baby in the same pot, that was there when I bought the cactus just under 2 years ago. I'm guessing that one might be about 3-5 years old but I'm not sure. Can you post a pic of your 4 year ol...

Re: Valentine's Cactus
I've seen other people do this as well. Opuntia must be very hardy because it never seems to adversely effect the plant, at least not in any immediately noticeable way. I still don't like it much though..lol

I'm wondering how long I should leave them in the pot before removing and re potting them?

Re: growth-analysis of Melocactus
Interesting. I love trying to figure out how much a particular cactus has grown in a season(s). Lots of pics are key!
Thanks for sharing,
Rich

Re: Video of my Cactus Collection!
Thank you Marzhattan! The Toothpick Cactus is actually one of my favorites! I just love how large and strong the spines get, earning this cactus it's common name. I actually got mine at Wal-Mart about 2 years ago, of all places! When I bought it the cactus was overgrowing it's pot, the whole thing h...

Re: Video of my Cactus Collection!
Hi Tom, I have some seedlings, but they aren't on the video. I ordered a few different seeds last year but it was winter time and I didn't know if that would be a good time to start them so I was waiting for Spring, unfortunatly I forgot I had the seeds and didn't get them planted until a couple wee...

Video of my Cactus Collection!
Hi everyone, I took my first video of my cactus collection the other day and wanted to share it with everyone! Please don't judge too harshly, we are still fairly new to growing cacti and succulents. We do have some challenges since we live in a place that get's cold snowy winters and on top of that...

Re: Henry Shaw Cactus Society Annual Show and Sale
Well the show was great! There were a lot of really great specimen plants on exhibit and everyone there was really nice. There weren't as many plant vendors as I had hoped there would be but we were able to pick up some good new plants. ...all newbies to my collection!!! Astrophytum asterias variega...

Re: Henry Shaw Cactus Society Annual Show and Sale
Hello everyone! I just wanted to see if anyone on here is going to this show this weekend, July 8-9, 2017? I went last year and had a good time. We bought quite a few cacti as well. I'm looking forward to this weekend! See you all there! :) On a side note, are there any members of the Henry Shaw Cac...

Re: Gymnocalycium mihanovichii friedrichii, flowers or fruit?
The red body colour is a characteristic of some of the mihanovichii group, nothing to worry about. It is often developed to differing degrees in different plants. http://www.cactus-art.biz/schede/GYMNOCALYCIUM/Gymnocalycium_mihanovichii/Gymnocalycium_mihanovichii_friedrichii/Gymnocalycium_friedrich...

Re: Echinopsis subdenudatum . . .
I bought one of these a couple weeks ago and it's starting to bud. The flower bud is so furry! It rained last night and the fur is still wet in one of the pics below. I can't wait to see and smell the bloom! http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t241/rtb1980/IMG_20170617_115959.jpg http://i162.photobuc...

Re: Epithelantha micromeris -- in flower?
My micromeris is blooming!! This is the first time I've seen it bloom. It has had quite a few flowers over the past couple of weeks. It's nice to finally see flowers on this one after having seen so much fruit come out of it last season. http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t241/rtb1980/IMG_20170607_1...
