You've got some nice ones there. The third and fourth pics in your second post are both some really healthy opuntias. The one with the white spices is particularly beautiful... not to mention it's particularly impressive to see it in flower.

Cheers for the IDs. After looking at photos of O. monacantha, I'm reasonably convinced that ID is correct for #3. However, I'm really less certain it fits #2. #2 is much more slow growing than #3, despite being an older specimen. It's got a more compact growth habit and is nearly spine- and glochid-...

Here's an update... http://www.cactiguide.com/forum/userpix/912_Lophfreak2_1.jpg http://www.cactiguide.com/forum/userpix/912_Lophfreak3_1.jpg I realise it may be difficult, but can anyone here hazard a guess as to what type of loph this may be? I had a mixture of fricii, koehresii, decipens, diffusa...

How old (roughly) would such a plant be?

I understand that Carnegia is considered to be somewhat slow-growing (well, compared to Cereus or Trichocereus anyway). Just how slow are we talking here? A couple of inches per year? I'd love to have a crack at growing a saguaro, one day...

A bit of an update on this one... It's still growing, and still looking pretty funky. I know peres tends to distort scions by pumping them up, but this little guy is getting twisted. http://users.tpg.com.au/gilbert2//Loph20091004.jpg At this point, I'm thinking it might be going to three heads, but ...

Wow, that's some patience. Now that it's grafted, how fast do you reckon the scion will grow?

A loph graft... possibly going to a crest?

G'day all... I've got a young Lophophora seedling grafted onto Pereskiopsis that seems to be growing oddly. This little guy was grafted some months ago, and seemed to take a long time to get established. Over the last couple of months it has taken off, however the growth seems a little bit odd. Can ...

Ahh... you know you're a cacti fanatic when, after a brush with an Opuntia you go for the camera before the tweezers.

That's a surprisingly delicate-looking bloom for such a spiny cactus. Vety nice indeed.

That is a weird-looking plant. Dead-looking, quirky, offbeat and very odd... yet strangely appealing.

It's like the Nick Cave of the plant world. :D

That haku-jo is a great plant. Mine pops out buds every year, but always seems to abort them at the last minute... very frustrating.
