Ok so I just ordered a bunch a litmus test strips. Coming from China I expect to receive them in + than 1 month, but we still have 2 feet of snow on the ground here so I will continue to use thawed snow for the watering.
Thanks everyone

Re: Watering with creek water ?
Thanks DaveW,
I know the area and the only ''civilization'' close to that creek is a sugar shack.
I also know brook trouts thrive in that lake and in the creek.
I will try it on a small scale for the first months and let you know !

You are probably right, thanks iann.
There is a lot of rain during summer here. I plan to build a kind of roof with a polycarbonate sheet next year. Hopefully it will prevent scars like that.

Opuntia Engelmannii all right or not ?
Hello,
I noticed that on the pads pale marks started to appear about 2 months ago.
If it can help you ... The plant was outside all summer, since September it is in the house sitting on a SE windowsill. was watered once per month since then.
Should I worry or not ?

Is there a precise, in-depth source (forum, book, etc) when it comes to cacti and succulents needs to encourage flowering. I am aware that species, even in the same genus, will not have...

larvae and flies - Harmful or harmless ?
Hello, I usually check my succulents on a daily basis and since 4-5 days I started to see some really small larvae on a windowsill where some pots are. They were not directly under the pot, but rather under the teracotta plate which the pot sits in. At first there was only tiny white larvae, but now...

Re: Offsets rooting
Yes, from what I can find on the subject, it seems that Echinopsis ancistrophora and Lobivia arachnacantha are two different names for the same cacti.
