Re: Most popular cactus sold?
The various "Holiday cacti" (Schlumbergera/Rhipsalidopsis) are fairly common, i guess?

Re: Packaging for shipment
I have often ordered plants from German nurseries, and many have not bothered to remove the soil before shipping, and at least two do not even unpot them. It has worked surprisingly well, no plants have been damaged. Other European nurseries that I have bought from have always sent the plants bare-r...

Re: Offsets rooting
Few Parodia offset so readily, and none of those I know resemble your cuttings. Echinopsis and G. mesopotamicum offset frequently. Should be easier to say what it is if you can get a picture of the mother plant.J-M wrote:the offsets come from a parent plant forming a big clump of at least 20.

Re: Offsets rooting
Mammillaria vetula gracilis. Are you sure the other species is a Parodia? Has the mother plant flowered? Some closeups would help, but it could be Gymnocalycium mesopotamicum.

Re: Thanksgiving and Christmas cacti
Low temperature should produce more pink flowers. I have observed this on indoor plants where flowers on segments close to the (cold) window have been more pink than the rest. On the other hand I have had flowers in spring with almost no trace of pink, and those buds should have been formed in even ...

Re: Thanksgiving and Christmas cacti
Can the color of the hybrids change with growing condition? Light, fertilizer? Yes, the colour of especially white and yellow Schlumbergera flowers often turn more pink when growing conditions change. Low temperature is said to be the cause, even if my own observations have been somewhat inconclusi...

Re: Please help me find the names for my cacti (almost done)
All the photos of the Rebutia I found seem to be a roundish (globular) plant. Search for pictures of e.g. Rebutia fiebrigii (or Aylostera fiebrigii) and I think you will see some more cylindrical plants too, they grow like that sometimes. (I did not say that your plant belong to that species, but I...

11: Alber khan meant Mammillaria hahniana or Mammillaria haageana. (But personally I think it looks more like a Rebutia.)
