i'm working on getting all my photos together so i can start a member topic,but i just had to share this one. back in jan. or feb. i got a plant labeled toumeya x echinocereus. it started to flower about a week ago and the flowers took some time to fully open(if thats what you want to call it) :lol:...

i don't know why...but for some reason i always think that this is a notocactus scopa monstrose,but i could be wrong.
they seem to be popular at east coast garden centers.
i had a grafted one that looked similar.
the stock died during the winter one year,now i have 7 or 8 pots full of little ones.

i'm curious why no dolomite.
i've been using dolomite screenings(well washed)as part of my ario soil for a couple of years now and i haven't seen anything wrong with them.
is there something i should know and don't?

it looks alot like a goldenrod spider.
we have them around our backyard all summer.
sometimes they have red or dark pink stripes along the side of thier abdomen.
their harmless,but they can be really hard to see when they are on goldenrod.

i'm not sure about the boiling water either. i thought i'd read it somewhere...but i can't remember where it was :dontknow: i've used that method for other hard shell seeds before,usually morning glory and such. i figured i had enough seed...so why not. think i got the camera figured out,so hopfully...

well last weekend on the 7th i sowed 5 pots of e.horizonthalonius,each with 12 seeds. 1 pot was sown with no treatment at all. 1 was treated with G.A for 30 mins. 1 was treated with sulfuric acid for 8 mins. 1 was scratched with sand paper. the last was soaked in boiling water for about an hour. all...
