Re: Orange spots?
My guess: fungal rust. To reduce the infection, I would remove it from the pot, remove all the existing soil, then put it aside in the shade for the roots to heal. In the mean time, you should acquire some high quality bonsai soil with very little organic matter. After youv'e waited for the roots t...

Orange spots?
I need help with one of my Gymno. I rescued this last year, it was completely flat and brown. Since then it's gotten fatter and better coloring, but it's had these orange spots on the edges and they've gotten worse. I have no idea what they are or how to treat them?

Re: How do I root grafted gymno pups?
How big must the pups be? Mine were about the size of a dime coin. I can’t upload a photo but my cactus looks exactly like this. https://planetdesert.com/products/graft ... hanovichii

How do I root grafted gymno pups?
I’ve got a purple grafted gymno, which I heard can grow on own roots. I’ve dove this multiple times until I had no offsets left :( I pulled off an offset, let it dry 2 days, then placed in a cacti soil perlite mix and misted daily with water. I had it under a grow light and it was warm. They all shr...

Seedlings grew inside pod!
I have a grafted G. Mihanovichii that had pods growing and when I opened the ripened pod I found tiny seedlings growing inside! I had to do an emergency transplant of them to soil in a container. I’ve never seen this before in cacti.

Fuzzy white mold on seedlings
I had to transplant my tiny g. Mihanovichii seedlings to new soil as the old soil got so hard water wouldn’t soak in. I transplanted to new soil with high moisture and two days later every seedling has fuzzy, white mold growing up the base of them. Will this kill them? How can I get rid of it?

Re: G mihanovichii seedling slow growth?
8 hours of light is too short a day in my opinion. Aim for 12 at least. Remember, most cacti are summer growing (or spring and fall growing) and at the solstice, days exceed 14 hours of light. Try to simulate those conditions. Together with that is warmth. Your seedlings will slow their growth if t...

G mihanovichii seedling slow growth?
I’ve got variegated seedlings 10 months old. They have quite a few spines, but the bumps they grow maybe have one or two per seedling and aren’t much bigger than months ago. They seem undersized for this age. I have them under a gro light 8 hours a day uncovered and the soil is kept moist but not so...

Re: Do you like cristate or monstrose forms in cacti?
Does anyone in the US have unwanted G. mihanovichii variegated montrose or cristata on own roots? I love these weird looking cacti and if you are going to toss them I would love to own one or two of these!

Looking for G. mihanovichii variegated montrose or cristata (US only)
I read many members get them from seed and end up tossing them, i however am in love with the way they look and would love to own these “monster” variegated cacti on own roots (no graft)

Gibberellic acid use on cacti seed/seedlings
How cool is this! Do you think if used on cacti seeds and seedlings it will speed up slow growth, and possibly create some unique mutations?
