Re: ID help please

I have a plant very similar to your first one. When I bought it it was labelled as Graptopetalum purpusor but after looking on Google I'm now inclined to think it is Echeveria purpusorum or at least a Graptopetalum x Echeveria hybrid as it seems the 2 genera are fertile. So treat it as an Echeveria....

Re: What is my name?

My first thought was Stapelia (Hirsuta?) but having googled E. resinfera it does look like it's probably one of those, a clearer/closeup picture should decide it.

Fascinating, snakes aren't something we see much of here in the UK (outside of a zoo that is). Thanks for sharing.

Re: Mealies, Mealies, and more mealies

I also use the Bayer products (sold as Provado here in the UK). I use the aerosol version in winter when the cacti are dormant and either a diluted spray or soil drench during the growing season. I also keep a cocktail stick handy so I can squish them (and their nests) as soon as I see them....not v...

Re: Fungal gnat control?

Hi Will, I haven't had fungus gnat problems with any of my cacti & succulents but have had plenty of them in my carnivorous plant collection. As most of my carnivorous plants grow in a very wet peat based (organic) mix and the C&S don't perhaps this is the answer, maybe you need more mineral...

Re: from my experience, don't purchase from. ..

If you were in the UK you may be able to make a "Chargeback" claim to your credit card company were you get them to refund you (they presumably get their money back from the supplier's bank). It might be worth checking with your card company to see if they operate a similar scheme where yo...

Re: Help for these two please

Hi Tiggy, I'd suggest Haworthia attenuata for the 2nd plant. I keep mine slightly shaded and give moderate water to try to avoid the tips turning brown. Good luck with them.

Re: Nepenthes Advice?

I'm no expert but I've grown a couple of "Neps" in coco husk mixed with orchid bark, I kept them moist but not wet. They need lots of light. Anyhow, talk nicely to Barry, he's your man for carnivorous plants. Good luck. :D

Re: Please help and advise

Hi Nick, It sounds like you might have a case of red spider mites (RSM). They like dry conditions and are difficult to get rid of. Do you have a magnifying glass you could use to examine them? I don't think Provado works for them, I think you need a miticide.
