Re: Imidacloprid and pest resistance -- a California questio
Imidacloprid isn't this synthethic nicotine ? works well for root mealies MOST OF THE TIME if the roots are in bad shape it doesn't work well. Eventually root mealies will be immune to this. Spine mealies it doesn't work as well. I doudt it works on spider mites no matter what the label says. malath...

I finally am getting around to setting them up level and straight and noticed alot of flowers on my cactus. So I'm attaching some pictures. I have to secure them together at the handles when the ...

Re: echinomastus
Hi Peter yes erectrocentrus is tricky to grow maybe hopeless in costal CA ? I have 2 small ones I will still give it a try they are really cool looking in habitat. I saw many growing next to the interstate S. of Tucson and higher up in elevation than Phoenix. I didn't see any Saguros growing in that...

Re: How to mix the perfect soil
I use regular sandy soil and add pumice or lava rock to it, and a little Bonemeal. No peat or any store bought Mix no reason to IMO. Use sandy soil not clay the test is get it wet and see if it sticks together in a ball or just falls apart, the fall apart is the sandy soil good for potting cactus. S...

Diatomaceous earth = diatomite ? I've used Diatomaceous earth the baked type for pool filters can get in your lungs. the raw type is probably safer. I think the PH is high around 8 but I never measured it. Wolf Creek ranch on Ebay has a bunch of info on it. I think they eat it over there ? I thought...

Winter time it was close to the climate of Phoenix AZ and moved apart every month after that. Its probably frying in Phoenix right about now. I am tryin...
