Re: blooming cactus

The orange flowers might be Dyckia rariflora.

Re: Matelea Cyclophylla advice

Hi-

Here is some great info on the plant.

They are very easy. When the leaves fall off, I stop watering until they break dormancy by showing leaf buds in the spring.

Re: P. leucocephalus flower and fruit

Hi Shane- Interesting article on the pollination of leucocephalus. I don't have any other info, as few of my Pilos have ever bloomed. If a cactus species is listed a self sterile, I've never pursued trying to get seed. Although, I have never looked up Feros and have brushed individual plants and got...

Re: Updated seed lists

Thanks. So the seed ordering season has started officially then! I have never ordered from SuccSeed before, but the Echinomastus are appealing so I decided on trying both Echinomastus and SuccSeed. You will really like them! Germination rates are on par with the best seed houses. Quantities are ext...

Re: BCSS

I don't currently live in Britain but they allowed me to join. There's a special category for overseas members. A friend in Essex told me that the forum rejects new members all the time but they're not able to do anything about it. I am not technically savvy enough to know how that works though. I ...

Re: BCSS

I have been unable to get in touch with the BCSS. None of the email addresses on their site work, or else they are ignoring me. I joined and paid dues last Sunday but have not heard from them since, other than an acknowledgement that they received my payment. Their website won't accept my login inf...

Re: Updated seed lists

I wonder why this Pleiospilos sp. (https://mesagarden.com/product/pleiospilos-sp-1838) would be 96 dollar... It’s for 5000 seeds, which isn’t obvious when you first look at it. They must have forgot to add lower quantity increments. I am glad you brought this up, as there was a Lithops they were se...

Re: Tapatalk or other solution

I was hoping to get more response in regard to this topic, but I did not elaborate on why. Aside from the self serving ease of being able to post faster myself, I think there would be a lot more participation if this forum embraced the ease of use by mobile users. Many people, especially younger peo...

Re: Updated seed lists

The website of Mesa Garden has changed, but it seems the availability on the website is not (yet?) as much as it used to be. So I guess ordering is not an interesting thing to do at the moment... Hi Aiko- Can you see their new website? They just posted this morning on Facebook that they have transf...

Re: Eriosyce (Cactaceae): The Genus Revised and Amplified

Thanks Phil,

That is a handy list indeed, being able to view a collector's list in numeric order by genus. It leads me to more questions, I will post a new topic when the sun is up and I can add some pictures...

Re: Eriosyce (Cactaceae): The Genus Revised and Amplified

Hi Dave- Thanks for the excellent response. With the collection numbers listed under the species of the text - that's perfect. Makes the book worthwhile to have. And Succseed does have a large number of Kattermann's Eriosyce. Mats is my favorite seed vendor. Ralph Martin's field number finder is awe...

Eriosyce (Cactaceae): The Genus Revised and Amplified

Hi- Does anyone have this book? The first time I searched for this book with intent to purchase ~ a month ago; it was $125 on Amazon. A bit pricey, so I didn't complete the purchase. The next day, up to $225. Second picture, current price below. I've also checked a number of libraries. No luck. The ...

Tapatalk or other solution

Hi- I would like to participate more often on this forum, but the problem is the amount of processing time for pictures to be acceptable to the forum. Not complaining, just too time consuming for me. I havent used Tapatalk yet, but it appears that it allows a user to comment and create pictures easi...

Re: Updated seed lists

Still waiting. I emailed and got a reply apologizing for the delay and that my order/invoice would be ready in "the following days". Probably more excited about this seed order than any other this year. Thanks so much for the update. I still havent heard anything from them but maybe it wi...
