Possible polyrhizus or setaceus or hybrid
Thank you BryanT,

A curator at the Florida Museum of Natural History agrees that this is Selenicereus. Possibly S. triangularis.

Re: UPDATED with new photos: Acanthocereus tetragonus?

Today, I was connected with a plant curator and cacti expert at the Florida Museum of Natural History.
I am waiting on more information from them as to this plant's ID. I am quite confident that they will be able to provide a positive identification. Still more to come on this!

Re: UPDATED with new photos: Acanthocereus tetragonus?

A complete description needs floweres, fruits, and seeds. I have spent up to 10 years IDing some plants but your's is mature so you should rap it up within 1 year. My acanthocereus here in Central America have considerable variation. It is typical for seedlings to start out very spiny and 6 winged ...

Re: Cereus or Acanthocereus sp.?

UPDATE: Here are the new photos - below Looking at these now, the younger growth has whiter spines. I am increasingly confident that these are both the same species. I think the previous owner attempted (somewhat poorly) to pot up a section of the plant and forgot about it on the side of the house....

Re: Jer's Return 2023

Hi Jer. My daughter lives in Pompano Beach. We just visited her earlier in the month. She is growing orchids outdoors hanging on her trees. I brought cuttings of an Epiphyllum I used to grow when she was a child I obtained from a friend that is still growing it. I set her up with a pot I attached t...

UPDATED with new photos: Acanthocereus tetragonus?

Update: I am very happy to maintain this thread here. Though, with the discovery that this may indeed be a threatened native species here in Florida, I have sent photos to our Department of Agriculture. I am, hoping they can provide a positive identification. I will continue to post updates here as...

Re: Sizes of your collection

I have been keeping cacti off-and-on for a very long time. I started learning about cacti when I was around 10 years old. I am now 38. So, lets say over 20 years. There have only been a few years during which I didn't have at least one species. Since then, I have kept over 100 different species, inc...

Re: Echinopsis sp.?

Thank you anttisepp! :D That was one of the species I was thinking too. This does have a very curious color. I was so taken by it that I had to have it. Ha! It is quite unusual looking. The lighting in my photos doesn't do it justice. The weather is pouring rain here. So, I can't get a good sunlit p...

Looking for Rhipsalis and other epiphytes

Greetings, I am on the lookout for Rhipsalis species. Cuttings, seeds, or rooted plants are all fine. Additionally, I am also likely to be interested in any other epiphytic cacti. What do you have available? Please see my Grow/Trade list here: https://cactiguide.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=400424#p400...

Echinopsis sp.?

Hey folks! Longtime member here. But, I have been away from the forum for a long time (more on that here: https://cactiguide.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=47767) I recently picked up this cute clump of cacti at a roadside stand in South Florida. The woman who sold it only spoke Spanish and my friend and...

Jer's Return 2023

Hi friends! I am a longtime member of this community. I have been on hiatus - living life and doing other things - since 2012. I have kept cacti off-and-on though and had a cacti themed kitchen/dining room before I moved, which I was very proud of (photo below). I am getting back into the hobby afte...
