One of my favourites is blooming. To be honest, the Lobivia cornuta itself is not exactly nature's most beautiful specimen. But the flowers are quite spectacular!

Re: Springtime in the Netherlands
Hi Strukto,
No, I remember one week in March with nice temperatures here in the Low Lands, but in that period my cacti were fast asleep! I always keep them dormant until the first week of April.

Re: Springtime in the Netherlands
Why do digital cameras such a mediocre job displaying the colour red? The peanut cactus of my little spring-session is orange-red, the 'Freedom' is pure red and the 'El Gigante' is purpelish-red. When you look at the pics you can hardly tell the difference. # Strukto: Don't worry, it won't be long n...

Re: hi from ohio
Hi PeanutCactus and welcome here! About 50 years ago my first cactus was a Chamaecereus silvestrii. The peanut cactus changed its name a few times (I lost count, is it still officially Echinopsis chamaecereus today?) but I was hooked. I now have about 30 hybrids (X Chamaelobivia) which flower in all...

Hi from the Netherlands
Hello everybody, I am a new member of this forum from the Netherlands. Yesterday I abruptly started with a question in the cactus ID-section and received some instantanious answers. Quite impressive! Out of courtesy I shall introduce myself here. I always promised myself that after retirement I was ...

Please help me with ID of these three
Hi, I'm new to this site. Could you please help me with the identification of these three cacti? I picked them up last week in my local garden centre, the labels were not very helpful, they just said "Mammillaria sp." http://i597.photobucket.com/albums/tt52/GreyGriffin14/Mammi03.jpg http:/...
