what is this?
What is this? It came with no tag whatsoever. The lighter green arms have grown over the past month since I've had it.

very young seedlings all falling over
I picked up a package of mixed cactus seeds a few weeks ago just to see if any would grow. Since this is my first try I'm not expecting any to make it to maturity but I would like to know what's going wrong. They're all in a seed tray covered in Saran wrap. The soil has stayed moist but not soggy. I...

Multiple species in the same pot?/species reccomendations
I'd love to have an indoor collection of lithops, fenestraria and maybe a hawarthia or two, all in the same pot. Ideally all species would be small enough at maturity that I could fit three to five plants/species into a pot that was maybe 12 inches in diameter. I am interested in plants that would n...

Re: how do i know if my plants need water/are dormant?
I'm in New England. They are by a couple of windows on a bookshelf. I'm not sure if the windows face south etc but I can see sunny squares on my floor from about 10 am to 4 pm. I also have a grow light that I was planning on putting them under for a couple of hours a day unless that would just confu...

how do i know if my plants need water/are dormant?
I have five small cacti all from a local greenhouse or home depot. I've got them all within the past month. I've been researching and they are now potted in a mix of coir, pumice and commercial cactus mix. One of them is pretty wrinkled. I haven't watered them. How do I know when I should? They are ...

please help me id my cactus
CI found this at home depot. I can't find and pictures of a similar cactus online - maybe. Does anybody recognize it? Is it actually a euphorbia ( what kind? )?

soapy water for new cacti
I have three new cacti. I've heard that soaking them in soapy water is a good thing to do to take care.
of lurking pests. So, do I use dish soap? For how long? Rinse off after I assume? Should they be totally dry before they go in their new pots? Thanks!

dichotamus key for cacti?
I'm pretty new to cacti, and there are a couple of genera that I am particularly interested in collecting. The greenhouses where I live all get their cacti in labeled as 'cactus'. Is there a set of traits that set Rebutias apart from other cacti? Also, how can I tell if a cactus is a juvenile and wi...
