Re: can i water???
Is there any actual new growth coming or the plants or is it only the buds? Plants often begin to show flower buds but they don't really develop until later in the season when the real growth occurs. Not seeing your plants I can't tell you whether to water or not but you have to remember that not al...

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.
Nice and simple but hopefully it brings a smile
It's a flower of my Gymnocalycium intertextum ready for the festive season.

Just a reminder that in 2 years time you have to post how the plants going - although I'm sure you haven't forgotten.

Re: Lazz 2012
Same kind of rot happened to one of my mamms the other day. It looked perfectly fine but I touched it and it was all soft and the WHOLE plant was just orange mush inside. First plant I've lost in about a year. I fear for one of my lithops though, I think it might be about to rot. I'll see within a d...

Re: Pink Echinopsis flower + white epiphyllum flower
Looking at images on google the flower of my epi does look like that of some of the photos of E. crenatum. The plant was totally obscured by the cycad but the flower was poking out so that was enough for me. Another flower should open in the next few days on the epi. The echinopsis flower is already...

Re: Pink Echinopsis flower
The ribs are pretty thin. I've recently potted it up and have been watering it for the past month but it hasn't really changed its plumpness at all since I first got it which was about 3 months ago.
Thanks for the ID and quick responses Arjen.

What's different with the ribs? It's probably the same species just a different variant.

Re: Pink Echinopsis flower
That was my thought as well but I can't find any photos with a plant with large spines. It probably is though because the body matches and so does the flower so I'm happy to go with that. In another couple of days there will be two more fresh flowers :D Looking forward to it. My epiphyllum is going ...

Pink Echinopsis flower + white epiphyllum flower
Flowering today was my Echinopsis. Its probably the best looking flower I've seen on any of my cactus. An ID would be great but if not, enjoy! http://i853.photobucket.com/albums/ab100/Mitchell995/IMG_5793.jpg http://i853.photobucket.com/albums/ab100/Mitchell995/IMG_5791.jpg http://i853.photobucket.c...

Re: Astrophytum seed germination
I've had fungus before in with my seedlings and not because they were dead. The fungus was introduced through some popsicle sticks which I used as dividers. Even though I soaked them in fongarid they still introduced the fungus. The fungus was just like a spider's web and it went away when I took ou...

Re: E. senilis -- with a pup!
Absolutely wicked specimens there Jens. I really like it how the colour of their spines change as they age. Wonderful flowers also. I could have chosen a plant with loads of pups or a plant with loads of flower buds. I thought the pupping one was the better one to go and it's budding up anyway so I ...
