Parodia graessneri [green]

As we don't have a really long enough summer here, more clouds than sunshine.
It took a while but my Parodia graessneri [green] finally popped.
Yes I know it's Oct 12th but the cactus doesn't know that.

Late Bloom ID Please

I think this might be a Lobivia due to the bloom type.
But the body has me stumped?

I see you object to the word LEARN. On the Home page of this site you will find this: Cacti Forum The CactiForum is a great place to share and learn with other Cactus enthusiasts. We've got a great group of members already and always welcome new members. Cacti knowledge is not a requirement here, it...

Hey parodias, ease up a little. I don't know of anyone here who is a expert, and as a "forum" anyone can express their opinion as to what they think a cactus might be. That is how a person learns. Believe me with all the changes and with cactus that have nothing in-common being listed in t...

Thanks for your help. As I said, it is not soft. None of these areas are soft. The brown spot is not rot or aging. It is a hard crust that is clam shaped [opened] None of the roots have any soft or slimy brown on them. Both cactus have solid, not soft bodies, even in the effected area. I would like ...

Cactus Caving In.

Recently I have found a few cactus of mine that have been caving in from the bottom like a mushroom. In all three cases the cactus have been solid in the area, not soft. This one is a Parodia Uebelmannianus It starts with a ridge formation right above the dirt line. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums...

Winter hardy info is hard to come by and what is out there is confusing. Desert-tropicals.com lists most Lobivias, Rebutias and Echinopsis as not frost hardy. But the Tucson Cactus and Succulent Society in their 123 care of cactus list, show most of them as hardy down to 18F. Now 18F is the same in ...

Slug Slime?

Over the last few days I have been getting "slime" on some of my cactus in the cold frame. At 1st I though it was slug slime, but the slime is on the flowers/buds. There is/are no slime trails on the pot, nor on the sides of the cold frame or the floor. I have found no sign of slugs or sna...

A cactus friend of mine did some digging through his 72 book library and found this one to be a REBUTIA DONALDIANA.

Thanks for your input on this one.

So far I haven't had to deal with scales and only one time with root mealies.

Thanks for the input.

Cactus Washington State

Was wondering if there was any members who live in the Seattle area.

I live in Oak Harbor and am looking for a decent source of cactus near here.

Do you know of any nurseries in the area that have a nice selection of cactus?

Thanks
