Re: 2015 - Free Seed Offer

Here are a few photos of your gift to me Tristan. These little guys are about 3 months old and they are an assortment of Cleistocactus and Astrophytum. I didn't tell them yet they they were born in Alaska but maybe someday I'll tell them their parents live in Arizona. Thanks again Tristan for your g...

Re: Rocky Mountain succulents, Alberta

Thanks for the nice photos, we have some very similar plants, alpines, and other small plants in Alaska at those altitudes. Many of them are succulent. It's like being in another world when you get a chance to hike in the high mountains. Also thanks for a reminder that I need to make a point of goin...

Re: The Cactiguide Haworthia Thread

"HarryUpNorth - you also have a really nice collection there. Do you have to keep them constantly in the greenhouse or protected ? (given your location?" Thanks Tiggy, I like the Haworthias a lot and might try a few more. I seem to lose them over the years either due to improper watering o...

Re: The Cactiguide Haworthia Thread

image.jpg image.jpg Nice photos, thanks to you all for sharing your Haworthias. I decided to gather my clan for a group photo tonight so here you go. They even took a little shower for Aiko! Craig and K.W. your truncatas are amazing! I didn't show those pics to mine because I didn't want them to ha...

Re: Bilious corner

Thanks Iann for helping to sort that out for me. Like Onzuka said on another thread, you've helped spike my interest in giving Lithops a try.
Best to you, Harry

Re: Bilious corner

I'm trying to figure this out. Can a given species have different coloration depending upon what surface it is growing on?

Re: Bilious corner

Iann, correct me if I'm wrong. I seem to recall reading that in habitat lithops tend to take on the same color as the rock they are growing on. It acts as a camouflage I suppose to protect them from whatever it is they need protection from. Can you or anyone else discuss this, I think it's very inte...

Ok, I'd like to propose that we all step back a little. I was deeply offended personally, by some of the comments made in a few of these post recently but today I watched as millions of people of all nationalities, races and religions marched to defend the rights of free speech and freedom of though...

Re: Euphorbia trigona branching

I would trim the 3 tallest branches of your plant and possibly a few others. Try to get them below the top of your window so the entire plant is receiving light. You should get branching at each cut point and probably other areas of the plant as well. Don't be afraid to prune it, it will be fine. Yo...
