The first bud was coming along nicely, but after I watered it the flower tube fell off ftom a slight touch. It started another bud shortly after and same thing happened...

Re: how old Echinocactus Grusonii V. Inermis to mature?
I wonder what a mature one would cost? Probably a lot more then I'm willing to spend. I couldn't grow one here in Wisconsin. Majcka said 50 years to flower, if pot grown lets see hmmmm... HEY I would be 96 but seriously mature barrels are very nice especially when in groups.

Re: Sulco surprise

I noticed you said you were going to get another E. rubispinus from CoronaCactus, and forgive me if you did and I mis...

Hey Steve, I hope ''Ugly mama" colors back up for you, but I like the yellowish/gold color. Maybe the early buds are a sign of good things to come.

Re: Opuntia bugs
Wow!!! They can really do some damage. I've seen some bugs very similar to that here in Wisconsin, but it has orange color on it by the head, or maybe the rear, cant recall at the moment. I think I'll do a little research to try and ID the bugs I see around here that look like that. We can always se...

Are you wintering that on a windowsill?
I am wintering it on a windowsill. I think this year I'm going to overwinter using your method. Is there any tips or advice you can give me on this?

I have at least one flower to show. I think things are starting to come to life here in Wisconsin. I have a few cacti starting to bud in my collection. I will post pics when I get a chance. Re: Do you appreciate spring?
The last two days here morning temps were below 0°F with the wind chill factor, so you betcha I appreciate spring. Well wait a minute! I live in Wisconsin, so I have to wait until we're a little bit further into spring before I can start to really appreciate it.
Daiv I betcha can relate to that.
