Re: pereskiopsis cuttings rooted as logs?

Scotty-

They have rooted and are growing. Each log has one or two new offshoots(typically what I see when rooted normal), so I'm not convinced it's a better method of propagation. Might be worth looking into though.

Re: pereskiopsis cuttings rooted as logs?

I had to cut one so that it would fit in the pot.

Hope this method works :-k

pereskiopsis cuttings rooted as logs?

So I recently obtained 15 pereskiopsis cuttings and so far 10 of the cuttings have rooted just fine(soil and water) I noticed of the 5 that haven't rooted one of the cuttings that is in water started to display new growth below the water level. The strange this is there are not any roots. This gave ...

Re: pereskiopsis cutting in water

I just planted 7 pere's in soil and tried the water method with 8. In 2 weeks 5 of the pere's in water started rooting. The remaining 3 in water are larger... not sure if that's why they seem to taking longer to root. I changed the water once every two days. I believe adding nutes before the roots d...

I hope you have the same luck with germination rates on the Ariocarpus and Astros that I had! Nearly 100% with the arios and 85% with the astros :). Looking forward to following your thread!

Metaphorically: 'Coming out of the closet with cacti'

It might just be my own personal perception based on age and location(mid twenties, Illinios), but I have received some interesting responses from locals based on my affinity towards cacti. Most notable include variations of: 'So you are growing cacti for their psychedelic properies?' Answer - 'Not ...

Cactus clubs or societies in or near Illinois?

The title pretty much sums the entirety of the question. Are there any clubs or societies near Galesburg, Illinois. For reference, 45 - 60 miles from Peoria, IL or Quad Cities, IL/IA. Or 120 - 180 miles from Chicago, IL or St. Louis IL/MI areas. I am seeking a club to become active in, considering a...

Seeds to seedlings, grafting and experiments

I decided to create this member topic to consolidate a lot of clutter and posts I'll be making in the future. Projects: 1. ~ 100 mixed genus/spp. seeds sown on 10/18/11 2. 100 astrophytum various spp. sown 1/17/12 3. 50 ariocarpus fissuratus seeds sown 1/17/12 Experiments (once supplies arrive): 1. ...

I am new to growing from seed, but ran into a similar problem not to long ago. I ended up putting the seedlings back into the bag and they recovered just fine. I thought a few of the seedlings were dead with how much they shrunk, but to my surprise even those with grim outlooks recovered just fine. ...

ariocarpus fissuratus seed advice

I need help planning before I sow. Will they require any special care or will the baggy method work fine? Any other advice on growth requirements/conditions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
