Couple of IDs please

The first one has grown from a little button sized plant I picked up three years ago and has now flowered. It looks like a Parodia. Parodia top.JPG Parodia side.JPG The second one gave me a lot of trouble. When I got it home from the shop, I found the root system had completely rotted away. It spent...

Rebutia ID please

Looking through the guide, I reckon this is a Rebutia and it has now flowered for the first time despite this being the coldest and wetest Spring I can remember! It looks a bit like R. pseudodeminuta, but the spines are longer than any of the illustrated specimens. I'd appreciate an ID from an exper...

Re: Mammillaria? IDs please

Thanks for the IDs iann. I also have a more standard M. magnimamma and the "krameri" is identical except that the tubercles are much larger; generally it has a coarser pattern of tubercles. The spines look the same.

Mammillaria? IDs please

The first of these looks like M. krameri in the CactiGuide. What do you think? Mammillaria krameri.JPG I haven't been able to find anything that matches the second one, although I'm sure it's a common plant in collections. Maybe it's not a Mammillaria. The flowers are creamy coloured and small. Mamm...

Mammillaria x 2 for ID please

I bought these two unnamed cacti last year and they have flowered this autumn for the first time. They both look like Mammillaria to me, but I failed to find them in the CactiGuide. Could you please help me with the IDs.

Re: Coupla copiapoas ?

Thanks to you all for your help on these two. I'll go with C. calderana for the first one and C. hypogaea for the second one, for now, and see how the plants develop as they get older.

Coupla copiapoas ?

I've had a go at identifying these two from the cactus CactiGuide pictures and would be grateful for confirmation or correction from an expert. The first I believe is C. cinerea. It's about 5 cm in diameter and hasn't flowered yet. Copiapoa cinerea.JPG My best shot at the second is C. hypogaea. I on...

Re: Feathered cactus

Steve, Harriet and Daiv, thanks for your help with this one. I haven't had the sinking on one side problem with this plant as yet. We had a very wet Spring here after a hot spell in March which encouraged me to bring the plants out of the greenhouse. Since then I've had to keep covering them to stop...

Re: Feathered cactus

Just had another scan through the guide and found M. plumosa. I don't know why I didn't see it before! Am I right?

Feathered cactus

I've looked through the Cacti Guide several times and can't see anything like this one. So I'd very much appreciate help from an expert. The plant is about 2.5 inches in diameter and hasn't flowered yet. The spines or glochids are very fine and white with even finer filaments branching from either s...

Couple of cacti for ID please

I purchased these two unnamed cacti last year for 1.30 euros each and they have flowered this year. The first looks like a Parodia. I wonder if it is P. microsperma. unknown 9.JPG The second is maybe another Parodia, but I've no idea which. unknown 8.JPG I also paid the princely sum of 23 euros for ...

Have I got these IDs correct?

Here's another couple of plants purchased locally without names. These haven't flowered, but perhaps the form is distinctive enough for identification. Please check my tentative IDs and correct as necessary! The first one I've tentatively got as Tephrocactus articulatus var papyracanthus (can't see ...
