Yeah mine was probably from seed but I will have to ask the grower. Its currently fighting a scale infection (a common problem , I've found, for this species) but I plan on treating it with a dinotefuran-based insecticide once I put the plants outside. I know that most single stemmed columnar cacti ...

I have a single stemmed Cereus peruvianus that's about 2' tall, when can I expect it to start branching?

Growing palms from seed HELP
I just ordered some palm seeds online (Washingtonia robusta) and was wondering if any of you could give me advice as to how I grow them. I've never grown palms from seed before, but I do very well growing annuals from seed every year. I am in zone 6b.

It says Mammillaria on the tag but I had considered Coryphantha. It's from Altman Growers in Vista so I'd be surprised if they made a mistake like that.iann wrote:Mammillaria or Coryphantha?

So recently I have gotten some Haworthias and Euphorbias, but I've never delt with Old World succulents besides Gasteria and Haemanthus. My question is, when is the growing season for Euphorbias and Haworthias? Should I keep them under lights now or put them in the dark to go dormant with my cacti?

If it were me I'd leave them inside. This nice weather could head south any day now. You can start next year and try to keep them outside for as long as possible during our short (northerns) growing season. Thanks for the advice. I think I'll leave'em inside. I just don't want anything to get etiol...

Yeah I put them in the coldest room of the house and keep them in darkness. It's just been really cool and rainy lately and I know from past experience that this isn't a good thing, especially for my various old man cacti.
