Thanks, I had thought saglionis a singleton -- always.

Take a swing at this Gymno?
Any ID help? Blooms look a LOT like my G. saglionis, bloom time also coincides, but multiple heads.

Re: Echinopsis tarijensis?
Thanks! Eulychnia castanea seems a decent fit. Stems are 10cm across, branches at base, wild spinage... Maybe. Hopefully, I'll have some bloom shots later this year.

Re: Echinocereus ID?
Thanks, that actually makes sense. This is the Echinocereus that sometimes goes by E. conglomeratus or E. stramineus var. conglomeratus in the trade, an invalid nomen.

Re: Let's grow some Melocactus!
Thank you for posting this wonderful primer on Melocactus cultivation. I can add one little informative tidbit some may find useful. I have had an M. azureus in a pretty sunny spot planted in ground for years. It has endured temps in the high teens covered and mid-twenties uncovered without issue. M...

Re: Giant M. plumosa?
OK thanks guys. All the plumosa I had seen previously had golf ball sized heads buried under so much fuzz I could barely tell what was going on under there.

Giant M. plumosa?
Just picked this up as M. plumosa, but the main head is larger than a tennis ball. Can they grow that large or is this something else?

Re: Puzzled
Thanks much. That was my original thought, when we first discovered them growing with the Coryphantha. Then we later discovered these (pictured), which are clearly M. heyderi ssp. macdougalii. Tubercles and spines look about the same, but other than that, these plants just seem worlds apart. I never...
