Re: Turbinicarpus Spieces and Care

tubedude is that plant with the elongated stem T. subterraneus rather than T. boolianus? https://www.cactus-art.biz/schede/TURBINICARPUS/Turbinicarpus_subterraneus/Turbinicarpus_subterraneus/Turbinicarpus_subterraneus.htm Yeah I'm not sure. The seeds were labeled booleanus but maybe that was a subs...

Re: Turbinicarpus Spieces and Care

I love turbs. You care for them like your typical cactus. Don't overpot and don't over water. Also don't neglect repotting with growth. I think suffocated taproots is what's responsible for most of the ones that I've lost. Turbinicarpus booleanus turbbool.jpg Turbinicarpus Lophophoroides turbloph.jpg

Re: trying cytokinin on Adenium and Euphorbia

I just applied some cytokinin on a chopped Adenium Socotranum and Euphorbia Abdelkuri.. I'll update this post if I see any results. Any updates or plants are still in dormancy? Results of applying cytokinin to Adenum usually takes up to three weeks. No movement from the Euphorbia. The Adenium branc...

Re: trying cytokinin on Adenium and Euphorbia

No movement yet, but I think the plants are still dormant. The Euphorbia typically come out of dormancy late June so maybe soon. Tempted to try it on a tephrocactus molinensis

Re: adenium pruning and root growth question

There is an experience using cytokinin paste to wake up sleeping buds, so it can be applied to sleeping buds in sight. Based on practice, do not use the paste on more than 2-3 buds. If 4 or more buds are treated, the plant is likely to give growth to all treated buds, but later it will still concen...

adenium pruning and root growth question

So I re-potted and chopped the top off my Adenium Soco. It's a late summer/winter grower. Will a light watering encourage root and stem growth or will it only start recovering when it thinks it's time? I honestly got tired of it's slow growth. About an inch per year. It's maybe 12 years old with no ...

Where to get pumice in Phoenix?

Hi, Just moved to Phoenix and am looking for a nursery that sells pumice and perhaps scoria and decomposed granite. Somewhere not too far from downtown. I had to cut down my collection drastically and want to make sure I get my mix right for the few plants that remain.

Thanks.

I would just discard the NAPA, seems like it's not doing good things. Your mix without it is good enough as it is.

Re: exposing tuberous roots, UPDATE!

I actually think it looks really good. Good job! Thanks! I suppose to really prove that theory of growth retardent you would need a few similar plants planted with roots above the soil versus the others planted at the normal depth. With all these things it is whatever turns you on and as you will g...

Re: sick euphorbia

Hack that off if it's soft. Also check the base of the plant too see if its' soft too. Also hack off a healthy limb and plant it, so you have a back up just in case the larger plant is dying. Also don't forget to wear gloves and perhaps eye protection.
