It's been on a windowsill and hasn't been a problem for the last 8 years. Let's see if it becomes one! I think I can expect 3~4 more blooms this season.

Re: 8 years ago...

Welcome back! Tony isn't on here, but he is on Facebook and Instagram. I also got a piece of that S. gigantea from him; quite a plant! When I show it to visitors they ask why I would even have something like that. I dunno, it seemed like a good idea at the time. Thanks for the info on Tony. As for ...

Hi, It's been a while. In fact, around 8 years since I logged in here last time. At that time, I even planned (and did) a cacti-oriented trip in California and visited some fellow forum users. And then life changed a bit, jobs/kids/moves. It was also very hard on my plants, lots of them died due to ...

Re: Cool happenings up my way...

Very very nice pictures. About G. anisitsii and E. sciurus, could these flowers be more opened! I doubt so. Also love that Tunilla erectoclada flower, stamens seems so spread out of each other. Also, I absolutely love your vine shade setup. I'm telling you right away, I'll steal this idea. It's weir...

Re: Where people in Minnesota go to fish...

Pretty nice haul indeed! Also, Northern Pike is not be the easiest fish to clean unless you have very good dexterity with the knife and know how those herringbones are (and there are many). The smaller, the harder. That's a shame because it's delicious. Next time, I suggest you try to smoke those li...

Re: Where to take cutting

Wait at least 7 days before watering. You've got to expose them gradually to sun otherwise it'll burn. Growing season is pretty much ending, not sure if I would get it outside this year. Find a well exposed window inside and don't water it too much. You don't want it to grow in the winter since ther...

Re: Grafting Gymnocalycium on Pereskiopsis

Also, you'll often read not to water pereskiospsis about 2-3 days before and 2-3 days after the graft. Play with this. If your grafts dry out (even in 100% humidity), why not try to water them the same day.

Re: Help Please! What are these black spots from?

I hear you. I have something like that on a few seedlings. No soft at all, blisters, some liquid leak but not much, spots eventually turns black. I still not sure of what's causing it. I have too many blisters to consider they would all sting each others. These seedlings are still under lights so, n...

Re: Grafting Gymnocalycium on Pereskiopsis

What happened ? Pushed off ? Didn't take ? Rotted ? Are you able to graft other seedling ? I can't see no special problem grafting gymno seedlings on pereskiopsis. Just keep trying! However I also have a pretty high fail ratio with those lollipops too. Came to the conclusion I'm losing my time with ...
