Clumping Mammillaria

Hi all, I've recently bought a large clumping mammilliaria (which I've had to split into two separate pots) anyone know what it could be?

Re: Lobivia/Rebutia?

I've done some research and I think it looks very like a Rebutia Fabrisii. The growth habit is identical and the orange flowered variety is very similar too.

Re: Lobivia/Rebutia?

The flower looks similar to a R. muscula but the growth habit on this plant seems far more 'clumpy' and the spines less dense and white than the R. musculas I've seen.

Re: A few cacti here

I'd advise removing the moss decoration, cacti don't usually like to be kept moist for long periods particularly around the stem. A more suitable top dressing would be some gravel or potting grit as this keeps the base of the plant dry. Mosses thrive when kept in damp conditions for a long period, w...

Lobivia/Rebutia?

Hi all, recently had a new addition to my cactus family! My initial instinct was that it was one of the old Lobivia family (now in Echinopsis) but the flower is very similar to Rebutia I once had. Any thoughts?

Unknown Echinopsis

Hi all, just bought this small fella yesterday labelled simply 'Echinopsis'. Any which in the genus it could be?

Girlfriend's mammillaria

Being the supportive boyfriend I am, I encouraged my girlfriend to get a cactus which is doing very well in her care!

Could anyone give me an ID for this? (Apologies for the strange angle, I've rotated the image but the forum attachment won't recognise it!)

Re: Opuntia Seedling IDs

Are these seedlings still too young to ID?

I grew them from a mixed pack of cacti seed, do any of these resemble opuntias commonly found in such packs?

Opuntia Seedling IDs

Hi all! It's been a while since I last posted but here are some five-year old opuntia seedlings that are suffering from a collective identity crisis. Could anyone help? 18009777_1311000325651672_1820722875_n.jpg 18009775_1311000135651691_300729514_n.jpg 18009725_1311000112318360_1117801840_n.jpg 180...

With regards to repotting, I dont think that Melocactus Matanzanus and Melocacti in general resent being repotted, just that they dont appreciate frequent repotting as some cacti do. I repotted my fairly large Melocactus Curvispinus this summer and I was worried by similar advice about how the root ...

I have heard that they appreciate a fairly short dormancy period and quite a large pot due to the speed that it can grow.

Dragon Fruit seedlings(Hylocereus Undatus)are really fast to germinate and easy to raise. You can see my experience with my seedlings here: http://www.cactiguide.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21714
