Re: Question about moving from Texas to Boston
Gemhunter, I heard yall had a super mild winter this year. I'm crossing my fingers for the next 3. Where/how do you grow your cacti?
Saxicola, those lights look pretty sweet. Does it matter what color? How many should i get per shelf, and how expensive are they to run? Do they get super hot?

Re: grafted Aztekium forming pups
Yeah, yall must be right. Even though he's a happy cacti, I'm bummed about the pups. What happens as they grow? Is it possible to chop them off without too much scaring on the mother plant?

Question about moving from Texas to Boston
Hello cactus peeps, Question for you all. I'm moving from Texas to Boston for graduate school. I would like to take at least some of my collection with me. Right now I have a modest twin-wall polycarbonate greenhouse which works great in the mild Texas winters, however, I realize Boston is a complet...

grafted Aztekium forming pups
Hello cacti peeps,
My grafted aztekium is forming a few of pups at the top (see pic). Visually, I am less than thrilled with this behavior. There's nothing I can do about it now, but is there anything I can do in the future to prevent this from occurring?

Hey Daiv, Ok, so I removed the shade cloth. Despite my efforts, a couple of cacti received sunburns (it was 115 degrees in Texas). Now everyone has adjusted. The front part of my GH gets a lot of sun, but the back of it gets mostly shade. And since it's winter and the sun is lower on the horizon, th...

Grow Lights
Hey Cacti Folks, So I built a new greenhouse out of twin wall polycarbonate, and I put 40% shade cloth over it. I've had my plants in for about 6 months. And of course, because it's growing season, I'm noticing some must not be getting enough light. My greenhouse gets excellent morning and noon sun,...

I dunno. I bought it from pkauctiononlinethailand and I live in TX. They say they can send it anywhere, but they're not responsible if your cactus gets confiscated by customs in your country. I definitely don't have any permits or anything. I just sent the seller a note asking if he has had success ...

purchasing cactus from thailand on Ebay
I was looking at cacti on ebay and bid on a cactus from Thailand. I won the auction. Needless to say, I did not do my homework before hand and now I'm paranoid about customs. Has anyone done this before? What should I expect? Am I screwed? Thanks.

He doesnt seem to be rotting, definitely not mushy anywhere, but I pulled him out anyways. Here are a couple pics of the stem and roots...what do you think? Is it a chemical thing? Could it be from the way I watered him? I did touch this guy with my fingers on the edges where the white is now missin...

Check out the before and after...he has a brownish hue around all this edges :(. I live in Texas where the temps are already in the 80s. I watered with a little Shultz fertilizer last week. Is it fixable!?!? I am so sad! http://www.cactiguide.com/forum/userpix/2686_IMG_2128_1.jpg http://www.cactigui...
