I recently did a big spray-paint piece of a cartoon cactus wearing some of those stupid slotted glasses.

I was thinking of selling my design on a shirt...I'll have to re-create it digitally or something.

Fortunately it doesn't get QUITE that bad here.

But, I live on a lake...and once the lake is frozen, we get lucky if the temps are above 5 degrees F. That, and the 15 MPH + constant windchill isn't nice. :(

Nobody ever wants to come to my house in the winter.

My girlfriends laptops harddrive is fried...we're both too broke to buy a new one, so I did Linux Mint on a thumbdrive for her. It can't save anything (bookmarks in firefox, documents, etc) but it works for what she does with it. She just checks her mail and stuff, and then is done with it. Its nice...

Trichocereus peruvianus & Trichocereus pachanoi

I got a seed pack from a friend about a year ago which had both Trichocereus pachanoi and Trichocereus peruvianus in it. I planted the seeds blindly, and never really thought to separate them. Now, a year later...they still both look pretty much the same to me. One thing that I DO notice, is that so...

Like I said...as a youth, I was really into exploring my mind. I have never heard of any of my friends who tried mescaline have a bad experience. The others (mushrooms in particular) seem to be the ones that can really bring out the craziness in you. I only did them a few times back in the day, and ...

As a younger guy, I was really into all of that type of stuff. I have read the Doors of Perception for sure. I started to get interested in cacti through my other ethnobotanicals, but have found that the plants themselves are much more rewarding than their effects in most cases. Yes, you can make a ...

I just grow them  If the government REALLY wants to kick in my door for having some beautiful cacti, let them. Its worth it to me, to see them grow :) I'm sure they have more important meth labs to bust, than my small cactus collection. I don't plan on eating them, so I don't feel I'm breaking...

Thankfully, a dose of this cactus is an entire foot length. The extraction of the alkaloids isn't something your average high-school graduate can do either, so the number of people abusing this wonderful cactus are few and far between. Interesting story, if you don't mind... I have a friend who is 1...

Hello!

Hi! I'm 19 (20 in April) and started growing cacti about a year ago. I planted my first seeds (San Pedros) December 3rd 2008. My first cacti just turned one year old. I have obtained a few more cacti, through trades on another site (the Shroomery) which is where I used to get most of my cactus infor...

How to tell if the graft "took"...

I have attempted to graft a rather small loph to a echinopsis peruviana. I have it in a little humidity tent. I left it for about two weeks, and poked it to see how it was doing. It fell right off. I wasn't about to give up, so I took two more thin slices off of each, and made another attempt. Its b...

Oooh! Neat! I knew cacti were resilient, but I had no idea it was THAT much haha.

I guess I'll just leave it as its 2 foot then. I was just worried, because I have some pereskiopsis that rooted (large) roots within 2 weeks in my cabinet, so I wasn't sure.

Thanks!

Two weeks and no roots...does that seem bizarre at all? Maybe I'm just being impatient.

Thanks a ton for the help. Its not that it will be too big in a few months, I'm just broke and this isn't TOO serious of a hobby for me yet. I don't really have the pots to plant it in, and I'm working with limited soil mix. In other words, I'm being cheap. The area isn't really that big of a proble...
