Re: Advice on GH Irrigation

It will be a challenge to grow both cactus and orchids in the same greenhouse!

Be aware that orchids don't need as much light as cactus. Big brown spots on the orchid leaves can be a sign that they're getting too much light.

Best wishes!

Well, all humor aside (for a change), I don't talk to my plants at all. They clearly benefit from my attention, so I try to visit them in the morning before work and again when I come home. On weekends I dedicate a big block of my time to routine maintenance. I've found that if I play a little music...

Occasionally plants just won't divide, but usually it is a sign that they are lacking something. Perhaps a good feed if you don't normally fertilise them, or give more water at the right times even if you don't water any more often. Thanks again Iann, I'll feed them and move them up to a place wher...

It does have a double set of leaves growing from inside. I don't seem to have a more recent picture, but that is how a Lithops gets from being a single leaf pair to a big clump. In cultivation it happens nearly every year for some prolific plants and almost never for some that prefer the solitary l...

Iann,

That 'red olive' seems to have more than two new leaves inside.

Does it? If so, is that common?

Arjen,

That stuff wouldn't work here in California.

Hi Dean,

We've met at some meetings and shows. Thanks for sharing this information - we'll have to talk music the next time I see you. I hope to drop in at the LA club this week.

Congratulations on your Inter-City win. That's a positive diagnostic sign that the disease is progressing!

It's beautiful!!

May I ask, why is your center beam projecting out? In such a well planned structure, it must have a purpose!

Aha! I noticed those on my M. hererrae yesterday and decided to do 'watchful waiting' to see what they were.
Now that I know, I'll take the needle tweezers to them and harvest the seeds.
