Re: A small collection: 2015 and beyond
I WISH it was 95º here in Phoenix! Over 110º all last week and now again this week! Not good for the people OR the plants. The real problem for the cacti is the over 90º nights. Growing here is a real challenge! Ugh!

Re: A small collection: 2015 and beyond
I notice that your Melocactus is in the sun from at least 3:30 until 5:30 PM. I don't think I could do that here in Phoenix! Mine gets some morning sun and a bright sunless spot in the afternoon. You have a really nice setup for your cacti and very adaptable depending on the plant!

Re: A small collection: 2015 and beyond
Your Melocactus matanzanus looks fantastic. Nice and full on the green area. Can just tell the roots are growing from the look of it! I wish my plant looked that good! Many seed capsules but not so plump as yours!

Boy, Steve, you can see how your proper soil, water, fertilizer has paid off in these perfect plants and flowers. They are amazing!

Re: A small collection: 2015 and beyond
IMG_8194.JPG Hi Steve, just wanted to show you my Melocactus that I got when you got yours. So far, so good! However, I imagine these flowers were set before I got the plant. Next year will be the real test. I have in a relatively small pot and my regular succulent mix which is 1/2 pumice and 1/2 p...

Re: Aloe zanzibarca vs. Aloe 'Minne Belle'
Yes, that is what I thought also. The tall one is not Aloe 'Minnie Bell.' It was labelled as such, but it came from Home Depot and I never trust their suppliers! Thanks for your help with the photos too. Too bad they seem to only load in landscape form!

Aloe zanzibarca vs. Aloe 'Minne Belle'
I would like to know what are the differences in these 2 Aloes. I am not sure what I have in 2 pots that are both marked A. 'Minnie Belle' but they don't seem to grow and look exactly the same. I thought one might actually be A. zanzibarca.

Hi Tristan, I am back on Cacti Guide forum after being away for about 2 years! I see you still are around here sometimes too. I have not figured out how to post photos on this site and will have to work on that. As always your plants are beautiful and I know you have many more blooming now!

I think mine was P. diguetii. Those darn ants and crickets drive me crazy.
Yes, it was great to meet you also. Boy, you sure know a lot about various cacti--even the Latin names! I remember you sent me Fouquieria seed twice, but I could never get it to sprout.

Wow, that Pereskia is wonderful. I had one but it died. I'm not sure it was weberiana though. Is yours in a pot? In sun?
