How big do opuntias of the desert U.S. southwest generally have to be in order to bloom, assuming favorable climatic conditions? I have several kinds in four inch pots and wonder if they will have to grow much larger in order to bloom.

Huernia macrocarpa
Having now seen a photo of Huernia macrocarpa (I could not find a photo of aspera)that seems to be it. It is attracting flies just as the description says.

OK.
