I do have a perfect place for a greenhouse, I just haven't shared that little desire with my husband/carpenter/greenhouse builder yet. I have to wait for the perfect alignment of sun and moon before I go there! Good luck with alignment! My case is the opposite, I've told everybody zillion tim...

I microwave pots with cactus mix for 3-5min, and it seems to be enough. Just make sure it is wet and covered in some microwavable container. It shouldn't stink too much. My SO noticed the smell, but they couldn't figure out what it was :P Keep covered until mix cools down. Good luck!

It depends on what kinds you are growing. Some very slow growing cacti could stay in bag for a year, I guess. Assuming that your soil was sterilized. And you should promptly remove them from the bag if there is any sign of trouble. I've used this method with lot of different cacti. For most 3-5 mont...

There is an article here about making your own cactus soil mix: http://cactiguide.com/article/?article=article8.php . Yours looks a bit too rich. If you don't have all ingredients, just adding 50% perlite should help. Rich and water retentive soil could be a disaster in cooler months.

Stapelia ID?

Hi, I got this one in HD a year ago, and it finally bloomed:

It looks a bit like S.gettleffii or macowanii but mine has only four petals

Thanks,
Elena

I don't even bother trying to water the dirt anymore. I mist (though I go over them a few times) the plants once every couple of weeks or so. Is that ok? The first one has been like that for along time. I figured it would either get worse or better, but it hasn't done either. This is why your plant...

You can probably find a better deal (and better plants) on ebay. I've seen somebody selling a set of different cacti there - cheap too.
