Re: Hana's cacti

Have you ever checked the roots from time to time? How long after it started rooting? I would like to know that too :D Have all three offsets rooted? Have you tried rooting other Aztekium species Frank? I never heard of anyone successfully rooting A. ritteri (I know many people who tried) or A. val...

Re: Zac's Seedlings 2024

Another thought regarding rot-prone species, if anyone has an opinion..... Would the droplets of water on the seedlings from after I mist them be a source of rot? Should I be bottom watering to keep the bodies of the plants dry? Hello Zack, I don't think remaining droplets of water will present any...

Re: Some of my seedlings

Strombocactus do you grow them enclosed in plastic ? They germinate easy but so small and more difficult than other tiny seed succulents like lithops. Dry out or rot is my experience. Yes, I use the same procedure as for other slow growing species (e.g. Aztekium). Seeds are sown in a sterile condit...

Re: Some of my seedlings

Seedlings of strombocactus disciformis grow very slowly. I sowed many seeds but about 50 seedlings have servived. The photo is some of them, 10~15 mm in diameter. Yes, they're not much faster than Aztekium species. Price is much lower, though (at least in Europe), due to low demand. How old are you...

I can't help you with the first one, but second one is Notocactus (Parodia) ottonis. At that size you may expect flowers very soon.

Re: Turbinicarpus

They are offsets I cut off a bunch of them a couple years ago and even through are big and flowering, no one buys them at the shows Yes, it's an interesting phenomenon that I've also observed. I'm not professional grower but a hobbyist and I don't attend shows regularly but when I have excess seedl...

Re: are all? cactus fruit edible

Llifle online Encyclopedia says following: " Fruit: 4-10 cm long, red, green or (usually) yellow coloured pear-shaped and more or less triangular. This fruit is a curious proliferating structure, bearing 3-4 cm long leaves, which ultimately fall away, looking more part of the stems than actual ...

According to LLifle correct spelling would be Neoporteria cachytayensis. It's not a valid name and it's considered to be a form of Eriosyce taltalensis.
