New USDA hardiness map

They've finally updated the hardiness map from the 2012 version. Thought this might be useful to some of our members.

Looks like I've been upgraded to zone 7b(Kentucky).

Thanks! I'll keep an eye on them.

Few days later I had buds on a couple Echinopsis.
Keeping those plants indoors? If weather worsens the buds can be aborted or stay small until next spring.
No, they're outdoors in a greenhouse.

Re: Cacti flowering in fall

These plants can be just late with their bloom. Or your summer is still ongoing. What is your climate? I'm in Kentucky. I believe we're zone 5b. Gets down to the teens(F) here. Right now I'm having highs in the 60s and lows in the 30s. Only thing I can think of is I gave my plants one last good wat...

Re: Sarracenia(North American pitcher plant) divisions for trade

Would you be willing to trade a piece of your bulbophyllum for a sarr division? Yes, I can do the trade. The Bulbophyllum is growing very large and there are places I can pull some off. It is on a cork slab with LFS between the slab and the orchid. I water daily like so: First drench with DI/rain/d...

Re: My cacti and other plants

Purps are usually the most cold hardy of all sarrs. You should try a division outdoors this winter. I'm willing to bet it survives. I have all of my plants in pots, no outdoor bog. I store all my S. psittacina, S. leucophylla, S. minor and hybrids of them under the leaf pile. The VFT go under there...

Very admirable thread Hana. Some very well grown cacti. I've recently started buying gymnocalycium species seeds and your posts make me very excited to see what I grow from them.

Re: Sarracenia(North American pitcher plant) divisions for trade

I have seeds of Viola lanceolata, Xyris sp., and one that may be hardy by you: seeds of Sisyrinchium californicum. All collected this year and still waiting for more of the violets and Sisyrinchium to ripen and pop their seeds. And I have a dwarf growing Sphagnum moss which I collected in the Pine ...
