I think the environment of a normal office isn't to good for Rebutias, as they seem to enjoy a lots of sun and cool nights. I would go for something like the paraguayan gymnocalyciums, mihanovichii or relatives, which flowers profusely, and don't require to much sun to do it, and are adapted to a wa...

...was sown in September 2009, and I've been struggling, with some species, with the amount of artificial light to give them in order that they can grow healthy without too much stress and at the same time trying to avoid that they grow etiolated. Because of that, some of them had not an uninterrupt...

In which conditions (temperature and light regimen) do you germinate them? And then how do you keep them in the first couple of months? I've just sowed my first conophytum batch 3 days ago at a constant temperature of 20ºC. But I think oscillating temperatures between 20-10ºC would be better? (or no...

A picture is always nice. Here's the cosy seed lightbox where most cacti start their lives. Other succulents germinate in a brighter box, except for that imposter at the back! And some species are out in the greenhouse for fluctuating temperatures and maybe some freezing. http://www.cactiguide.com/...
