Re: Tricho, start to finish

Beautiful! Wish the climate here wold allow in ground planting of these. I'm pretty much relegated to container growing with the Trichos and Echinopsis.

I have purchased from them and got fairly fast service in the past. However, that was probably 5 years ago. Perhaps they've lost interest or maybe I just got them at the right time? Anyway, if you still have no luck on this, you might want to see if Matt has or has access to the ones you want: http...

Cleistocrazy!

I fully understand now. This is one of the first five cactus I ever bought and started it's life in a monstrous form. It has since reverted back to it's normal form, but this is the first time I ever saw it bloom. Amazing how many different colors this bloom has going on with it! Enjoy Cleistocactus...

I have a ton of these. They pup and bloom very freely. They do stay kinda yellowish, which I guess is normal. Very easy plants to grow and flourish!

I just water from the top and it cleans them right up. I stay away from perlite as it floats to the top of the mix and is unsightly to me. Perlite serves NO useful purpose in a mix that Turface or aquatic plant soil can't substitute for. Just MHO.

Here in SC, USA, with extreme heat and humidity at well over 50% most times, I water every two weeks or so. I use all terra cotta pots with a VERY coarse mix, so they are usually bone dry within a day or two after watering. I can not recall ever rotting a plant from too much water.
