Gonos usually meant "offspring." The word for a literal "seed" is sporos

This past winter, Phoenix and Tucson had a four day stretch of freezing temps with one or two nights in the teens. Yes, they grow in Las Vegas too, which gets colder because it's a thousand feet higher and farther north. I would suspect that if they won't grow in Florida, it would be something else...
