I generally give them the same care as Melocactus, and they do fine. They don't seem to mind our humidity at all.

Gymnos are so variable. Some are so plain and boring, while others, such as this one, have real character.

Next time you're there, check out the trays. They probably do NOT have drain holes. Consequently, when the store personnel water them, they end up sitting in 2" of water for 6 weeks and then turn to mush. I hate to be cynical, but I've seen it happen too many times.

Nice. I didn't realize it took so long for them to obtain their distinctive color and wool.

http://www.cactiguide.com/forum/userpix/1554_Melo_2.jpg I have also found Melos easy to grow. They seem to tolerate our humid conditions more than other cacti. They also have nice spines, which can make them attractive even in the winter, when they are not in bloom. The spines of a M conoideus, whe...

Looking for a Pilosocereus fulvilanatus

Does anyone know where I can buy a Pilosocereus fulvilanatus? I have searched all the major dealers. Sometimes E-Bay will list seeds, but I'm not into seeds. Thanks, Vic.
