Just a note on nitric acid to lower pH...in my opinion, *don't try this at home*. Using any strong acid without knowing what you're up to is probably a bad idea (for the plants). peterb yeah it can be dangerous, i don't think you can buy it in a normal shop dough. Here in Holland we can only buy it...

Maybe is has something to do with the protective respons which also produces mescaline. San Pedro and Lophophora make more mescaline under stress like insectbites, wounds and full sun.
