These are quite prolifically hybridized for different color flowers, I believe. So the plant is probably no longer sure what color it should be. Yeah, I have about 20 euphorbia milli's and the ones that have been hybridized, go through a rage of colour shades during their flowering cycles. Mo...

my euphorbia milii has hybrided by itself

Okay here's the story, in November 2010, I removed a euphorbia milii from my cacti garden because I wanted to use it as a feature plant in a larger pot. In the process of removing the plant, one of the branches broke off, so I replanted the broken branch back in the cacti garden. It has grown like c...

Aloe how is everybody today?

At the start of the year I purchased 6 types of mini aloe over consecutive weeks. These are hybrid aloes and I thought I would share them flowering with you. So far one has started to flower, more photos will come when they emerge. The company that sells these in Australia is called Aloe Aloe and he...

Hey Tony, I first remember looking at this thread and thinking, I wouldn't mind that one either. 8) I purchased a 4" cutting back in April 2010 and the label said 'yellow flowers' which I didn't see until around December 2010. Looks like I now have what I was wishing for. :D Yours is a beauty a...

Just guessing, but would be close to 4" to 5" in diameter.

Here's a close up of the same species in the backgarden.

About 1 meter (approx. 3.25ft) before it starts to flower. When new stems are formed, they can start flowering at around 1/2 a meter, even less.

eekawill wrote:in real life did the flowers look more like the flash or not?
Yes more like in the flash pic - the flowers are pure white with longer pale crimson petals growing from the inner part of the flower bud, but since they are longer, they blend in with the rest of the flower and overlap.

Ewestfall's K. synsepala looks like it needs a little more sun. Here's mine which receives sun until around 1.00pm then lives in the shade. I reckon a happy medium of both, makes it look healthy. http://www.cactiguide.com/forum/userpix/1422_ks1a_2.jpg http://www.cactiguide.com/forum/userpix/1422_ks2...

Beautiful! 8) I like it with the flash. I had a neighbor once catch me in my backyard with two spot lights, on a ladder, 10 foot up a tree in the middle of the night. He asked "what in the world are you doing now?" I said "taking pictures of one of the largest flowers I have ever see...

From the back garden two nights ago

According to Aussie cactuspolecat, this is a called spachianus tango. Well in the space of less than 5 minutes, I took these pics without flash and then used flash and the photos gave a striking contrast, which I didn't realise until viewing them today. The same sky background has a different effect...
