Re: Unlabelled Cacti

Hi Grimm

Concerning the Fero I tend to histrix because of the coloration at the base of the spines and their form and arrangement.

Re: San Pedro? and is she okay?

Hi Taijroy The succession of thinner and thicker segments is a clear sign of etiolation. Too much water / high temperatures during wintertime. The plant tries to grow in spite of insufficient light-conditions. You should try to induce a dormancy-period during the dark season, by cooler temperatures ...

Re: new to Cacti

I agree with elieestephane. The bigger one in the third image looks like "F. peninsulae" (hooked spines), no liability assumed.

Just wait some years and you'll see!

Re: Aloes?

High mmcavall Aloe of this type (spotted toothed leaves in a rosette) are very hard to identify and there are lots of bastards, too! Further more they take different colour and appearance, depending from the light-intensity. I have one of this type myself. Fortunately it was reasonably simple to ide...

Re: What is this?

Hi
If you talk about the spiny column in the foreground, it's a "Pachypodium lamerei", from the dear Dogbane family

Hallo Growing cacti makes you patient and anticipatory! 2 months ago I bought a little ball about 2 inches in diameter: Fero- oder Echino.jpg It is hard to imagine that it will one day turn into something like this: kelly110.jpg source of the Picture: http://www.cactiguide.com/piclocation_display/?l...

Re: 2 unlabelled cacti

Hi "elieestephane" The first one indeed looks a lot like P. pringlei in daylight. The colour of the frech spines however should be red, like that in the last picture of your research. This is particulary the case if you consider the power of the lebanese sun! If it's really P. pringlei, it...

terrestric or alien?

Hi everybody This afternoon I stumbled on this strange plant at a local garden-center: Alien Plant_HDR[1].jpg The cross-section of the shoots is circular, diameter of the whole thing about 10 Inch. Does anybody have any idea? Looks like a Halophyt from the mangrove-beach! Maybe you know better... Be...

Re: Painted tips

For some people, plants are just a kind of interior fittings or design. They just should be stylish and fit with their other decoration.

Poor people!

Re: 2 unlabelled cacti

Hi "elieestephane" It would be helpful to see Pictures taken in natural (day)light so you can judge the real appearance and colour of the epidermis of the plants. The first cactus for example looks much too bright and too shiny for a typical Pachy pringl. If you tell us the diameter of the...

Re: Please tell me what kind of Euphorbia this is.

Hi Brontosaurus It could be an Euphorbia nevertheless!?! Unfortunately the base of the thorns is not clearly to be seen on the Pictures. To look on further Details I recommend the site: "http://www.euphorbia.de/indexe.htm", with english part as well. Main Menu - the plants - the euphorbias...

Re: Please tell me what kind of Euphorbia this is.

Hi Brontosaurus

I'm not shure, if that is an Euphorbia anyway. Maybe a Huernia or Stapelia, one of these plants with thin stems and big stinking flowers? Some of them produce latex as well.

Re: Kamos, Hanford-Ca

Thank You!

This is a species from Madagascar, like E.leuconeura or E. viguieri which I own as well. Especially E. viguierii makes beautiful cyathial leaves, glaring red!

Re: post of "Gemhunter178"

Hi Gemhunter
That's the reason why I like columnar cacti: more plant per surface area like the skyscrapers in NY!

Best whishes,
