Best time to repot and propagate Trichocereus
Hey everybody (and thank you all for the amazing help and time you give on this forum!). I've just got a quick question - what's the best time of year to: A) repot Trichocereus pachanoi (hybrids, possibly with Peruvian Torch?), and B) twist pups off for future potting (once they're calloused if need...

Spines falling out
Hello everybody! Does anybody have information about spines/spikes falling out on cacti? In the photo, you can see a healthy young cactus that's been growing. However, I saw that the spines have fallen out, and I don't know if it's the start of a problem. I'm watering the cacti with a 100:12:1 mix o...

Damaged root advice
Hello everyone! :) Can anyone give advice on cactus roots? I have a cactus that was repotted a while ago and it's finally rooted nicely and is firm in the pot. However, it has been pushed around twice by the cat, and now it's quite loose. Not completely loose, but it's easy to move back and forth sl...

Re: Will this 'rot' cause any problems?
Thank you Harald once again, and to everyone else for all your help! Unfortunately I've had more bad luck with the cutting, and I'm not sure I have many options now. The orange spots have come back, and as you can see I've almost run out of cactus to cut! With so little cactus left, maybe my best ch...

Re: Will this 'rot' cause any problems?
Hi everyone,
Here is the latest: I cut the cutting again. Almost within 1 day, this orange colour appeared. It happened so quickly! Is this anything to worry about?

Rot on scopulicola hybrid
Hello :) below are some photos of a T. scopulicola (hybrid?) which now has some black rot where the flesh was exposed to rain. This rot becomes hard in the sun, but after a rain it becomes soft. Not mushy soft - just soft enough that you can make an impression with a fingernail. This cactus now has ...

Re: Will this 'rot' cause any problems?
Okay, one concern is that the cutting is quite soft - i think because of lack of water. What if it doesn't have enough hydration to survive until it heals and gives out roots?

Re: Will this 'rot' cause any problems?
Thank you, guys. Yep this is the current state of the cactus. Can cutting into the cactus too many times shock or kill it? If I cut again, it will be the third time. It will only be around 10cm - 12.5cm long after the cut. Could the cactus potentially be fine if I leave it? Or is it clear that rot i...

Will this 'rot' cause any problems?
Hello everybody! I'm just wondering if this little black dot could cause any problems. I should mention that there was some dark, moist rot on the cutting, which I cut away about 2 months ago. I didn't cut ALL of it away though, it was discoloured. But it didn't seem to matter. Now, this little blac...

Re: Is this cactus going to be alright?
Thank you for the fantastic answer, greenknight! This has been very helpful. Yep the roots were spread, and yep, we are in the southern hemisphere. The sun is harsh here in New Zealand (when it shines). Maybe I'll lather this cactus up in sun block
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

Is this cactus going to be alright?
Hello everybody! BACKGROUND : This cactus was recently rescued (pictures below) from a small pot, and any help would be greatly appreciated! This champion is around 20 years old and has been yellow like this for a long, long time. It was in the broken clay pot you can see behind it, with bad drainag...
