Id venture to bet Crumps is the highest altitude cactus nursery in North America, at around 9k' elev at the headwaters of the Arkansas River. The plant was grown with no shade c...

labeling plants in the garden

I can see the time when I wont be able to keep track of what is what in the garden, if I dont come up with a way to label everything. I have seen the zinc and other metal labels, they are kind of expensive IMO. Writing on wood stakes with sharpie markers works ok, but you have to pull the stake year...

When I lived in Boulder Colorado I had a rather large collection of rare Trichs stolen (some jerk ate them id bet) from my front porch. after the theft I told anyone whod listen I was into entheobotany and ayahuasca, and proceeded to sow 100 or so Datura metal seeds. Sure enough they were all stolen...

Yes, definitely poisonous, if you eat a few seeds from that pod youll trip your face off, in a bad way. Not a floaty happy mushroom or LSD type trip, but rather full on terror.

Dont eat the ornamentals!

I plan on selling cold hardy cacti and succulents at the farmers markets in Denver and Colorado springs starting next year. Every indication is that they will sell well. Keepuing the price down is important IMO, I think cacti could be classified as an 'impulse' buy item (in my experiance at least).

Hi Daryl, they are scattered in several beds ive constructed. They arent smaller due to winter, rooted pads were planted just last year. None of the plants pictured in this thread had winter damage. I expect most of the full sized 'pears to make 3-4' patches, ill be cutting them back and selling the...
