Re: To pot or not to pot? That is the question!

You can go ahead and pot them up if you'd like. Just don't water them until spring arrives. You shouldn't need to cut the offsets. It may take some time but they'll eventually grow roots (hopefully). One of my ferocactus cuttings took 6 months to do so. Thank you! i'll place them on some soil for t...

To pot or not to pot? That is the question!

Hi all, I am wondering what to do about a couple of specimens i was gifted in the last week. It is October in NYC and I gave the last watering to all my potted cacti about 2 weeks ago and now I am not sure how to proceed with the little guys I got. The question is can i pot them up and leave them be...

Re: Ants

Hey Elieestephane, I also was having this problem about a month ago, something that I noticed was that they were nesting themselves only on my plants potted in plastic pots and so I resolved this by repotting most of my collection onto clay pots and they have stopped infiltrating my cacti. It got re...

Re: Light requirements and growing inside

Light isn't real important when the plants are dormant, but they hold their color better with good light. There's more risk of sunburn if they've lost pigment from wintering in the dark, you need to gradually introduce them to the sun again. So do you mean that I can lets say leave it on a sunny wi...

Myrtillocactus Cristata cutting. Help needed (pics)

Hello community, I am in need of some help with a tiny cutting a friend gave me from her Myrtillocactus Geometrizans Cristata. She just popped it off the plant for me to take home so it is a little bit dusty with the soil but I washed it and managed to apply a little bit of rooting powder on the gre...

Re: My cool-hibernating cacti

Hello, your collection is simply lovely! I was wondering how you care for your Browningia Hertlingiana, mines has been steadily growing but has slowly lost its blue shade and is simply greenish now. Was hoping maybe you knew something that could help it go back to its natural color? thanks!

Need help figuring out if my Blue Myrtle is going to be ok!

cacti2.JPG cacti4.JPG cacti5.JPG Hello cacti lovers, I was just given this beauty as a gift and I am not sure if it is going to survive. The new growth seems to be slightly thinner than the upper part and I don't know why that might be (could it be improper care?). Also it has a majority of the spo...
