Re: New to me
#2 looks like Thelocactus rinconensis based on tubercle shape. T. hexaedropborus has simpler tubercles.

Re: Is this a bad idea
Never tried it on cactus, but it caused some distorted growth on the plants I tried it on. It was over 40 years ago, so I don't remember what I used it on. I've seen it advertised to make cactus offset, recently.

Everything outside in a shade house. A few inside in winter. And even some in the ground!

I don't think he is. Whenever I've spoken to him he refers to cactiguide as the past. Didn't ask why.

Re: Instagram accounts
I started on "Insta" (am I cool yet?) a while back. As far as I know I'm @cactusthehut. I post pictures because I can do it from my phone. I'm pretty neutral on it and generally negative on social media in general. It's different, but it doesn't have the same interactive dialog we get here.

Two of my A. fissuratus made a liar of me today. They go from felt to flower in no time.

Flowers from the plant apex definitively rule out Mammillaria.

"Regular" M. pringlii have golden spines. I've never seen one this pale. I'd buy one if I'm saw one. Nice plant!

Re: Mammillaria
Nice plant! I think the flowers are too big and the spines too sparse for M, grahamii. You can sefinit3ly eliminate that.
