Customer service and ongoing education... People friendly. I am thinking that it may be more interesting to turn the garden into a small scale nursery that puts more emphasis on educating people about cactus and succulents, native plants and plants adapted to the climate of Los Angeles. For some peo...

Howdy Folks Thanks for all the replies and ideas. I have yet to have a chance to photograph the entire garden and won't be able to until later this month. The name of the company in the past was Coyote Cactus Company. The garden itself was/is considered one of the finest private cactus gardens in So...

Howdy Buck Thanks for the encouragement. I definitely see it as a unique opportunity. The landlord is not concerned about making a profit. It is more about just keeping up the property and adding value when possible. My first step is to get the basics of what existed before and look into the records...

Thanks for your comments. You are right. It is not about getting rich. I just want to help bring back to life a semi-profitable business that existed up until about a year or two ago when the caretaker hired by the owner died. I have a unique opportunity here. I would be a partner with the owner spl...

Cactus Garden-Nursery Opportunity for Me

Howdy Folks Well, I have been given a unique opportunity to take over a cactus garden/nursery operation. Before I do, I want to enlist as much help as I can from the members of this list. The garden is part of a 20+ acre horse ranch. The garden itself is approximately 5 acres of terraced hillside wi...

Howdy I have been lurking. My business and my running have been my passion over the last year. Last year I went down to Chihuahua Mexico and ran with the Raramuri (Tarahumara) Indians. I learned about their huarache sandals and have learned how to make and run in them. Last year included my particip...

Yes, I totally agree. Being able to write to this forum and get answers is like having access to the memories of 100s of ancestors, even better, and no spirit journey required.

Thanks.

Well, it is a relief to know the cause.

I also had some similar problems with some cactus, but other succulents and cactus fared better. Must depend on the species.

I have a bunch of sick agave and yucca. See photo below.

Any ideas as to what I can do to help them?

Thanks John

You have given me a bunch of great information. I am starting to learn about all these plants. They are so fascinating. I was overwhelmed by the variety out there.

I really enjoy arranging succulents. Pure eye candy.

I am eating it all the time. Our tortoise loves it, too.

I skin it and cut it into strips. I like it with bean and cheese burritos. It's also good raw.

PS. I to like fruit of Myrtillocactus geometrizans. My chickens steal it whenever they get a chance.
