Same there, I encountered lots of WDB and some didnt rattle at all. Some did but not like their reputation. Prarie rattlers on the other hand was buzzing machines. Almost all of the hundreds I have met.

I never seen a timber in the wild but I kept one big male at home and he never bothered to rattle. Same with rattlesnakes I have found in the wild, some are very mellow, didnt make a sound and some just couldn't stop rattle. I enjoy the variety of cacti so only one genus is out of the question. But of course I like some genus more then others.
